Why Memorise the Quran?

The Prophet ﷺ said:
"The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it." (Bukhari)

He also said:
"Whoever recites the Quran, learns it, and acts upon it, will be given a crown of light on the Day of Judgment." (Ahmad)

1) Ayatul Kursi

"Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi after every obligatory prayer, nothing will prevent him from entering Paradise except death." (Sunan an-Nasa'i)

Additionally, in another narration, the Prophet ﷺ mentioned:

"Ayat al-Kursi is the greatest verse in the Book of Allah." (Sahih al-Bukhari)

This verse is known for its immense spiritual significance and protection. It is recited for safeguarding oneself from harm and seeking Allah's blessings and mercy.

2) Surah Mulk

"There is a Surah in the Qur’an which contains thirty verses which kept interceding for a man until his sins are forgiven. This Surah is: Blessed is He in Whose hand is the dominion (Surah Al-Mulk)." (Tirmidhi)

Additionally, it is narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said:

"Surah Al-Mulk is the protector; it shields a person from the punishment of the grave." (Sunan al-Tirmidhi)

Surah Al-Mulk is known for its protection and intercession on behalf of those who recite it, particularly at night before sleeping.

3) Surah Kahf

The Prophet ﷺ said about Surah Al-Kahf (Chapter 18):

  1. "Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf on Fridays, it will illuminate his week until the next Friday." (Sunan al-Darimi)

  2. "Whoever memorizes the first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf will be protected from the Dajjal (Antichrist)." (Sahih Muslim)

These hadith highlight the spiritual benefits of reciting or memorizing Surah Al-Kahf, offering protection from trials and illuminating one's week, particularly when recited on Fridays.
